TITLE: Space Visitors, a Mars Marathon, and Frog Super-Skin INTRO: Hi BigBrain families! Welcome to today’s kid-friendly news adventure. I’m glad you’re here. Today we’ll visit a busy space station, cheer for a rover that reached a marathon milestone on Mars, and learn about hopeful science that may help frogs and toads. As always, we’ll keep things clear, curious, and calm. STORY 1: A New Crew Arrives at the Space Station Our first story blasts off to a home that floats above Earth: the International Space Station. NASA says astronaut Anil Menon and two crewmates launched from Kazakhstan and reached the space station on July 14. The International Space Station, or ISS, is a giant science lab in orbit. It circles Earth while astronauts live and work inside, doing experiments that are hard to do on the ground. With this new crew arriving, NASA says the station will have 10 people aboard for about two weeks. That is like having a busy classroom in space! But instead of desks and backpacks, the crew has sleeping bags attached to walls, science equipment, and a view of Earth out the window. Why does the crew number change? Space station trips overlap. One team may arrive before another team comes home, so astronauts can share notes, explain experiments, and keep the station running smoothly. And what kind of science happens there? It rolled slowly and carefully over rocks, dust, slopes, and ancient ground. Perseverance is exploring near Jezero Crater, a place scientists think may have had water long ago.
