A Giant Space Delivery Heads to the Space Station

April 14, 2026

A cargo spacecraft launched on a delivery trip to the International Space Station (the ISS). The ISS is like a science clubhouse that orbits Earth, and astronauts there need regular shipments because they can’t just run to a store.

These cargo missions bring important daily supplies like food packets, equipment, and parts that help keep the station working. The ISS also supports experiments in microgravity, where many things float because the station is continually moving around Earth.

One of the hardest jobs is docking—carefully lining up the cargo spacecraft with the station while both are traveling very fast. Astronauts and computer systems guide the vehicle so it connects safely.

Each delivery helps the ISS stay ready for learning and discovery. With fresh tools and materials, astronauts can keep studying how plants grow and how different materials behave when “up” and “down” don’t act the usual way.
